It's Super Bowl week and today I want to share with you a list of my go-to sports fonts.
When it comes down to choosing the right font for the sporting project, the first go-to option is to choose that college-style stenciled look. It's a safe bet for pretty much any sports-themed design. Traditional freshman geometric fonts carry out that straight to the point, no-nonsense attitude. But the problem with those fonts could be, they often look too mainstream.
As much as I like geometric slab sans letterforms and their clean bold look, there are also other typefaces that could score big in your sports projects and look less common than letters on your old college jersey.
In particular, bold brush fonts – like
Brushstrike or
Canadian Brusher – are yet another great options that could fit the bill of being sporty enough. Better yet, they add that street-style feel to the visual in a more subtle way than geometric slabs do. To top it off, brush typefaces always work well when paired with traditional college fonts.
Have fun to experiment with these fonts and please share in the comments below what are the other fonts you use for your sport projects.
