You've been working on that Easter design project around the clock, and finally, you've created a perfect one! Now all you need is a final touch – a fun and balanced font pair. Here's a roundup of fonts that are playful and bold enough to work perfectly for your Easter design.
As a graphic designer with a passion for typography, the number of principles on how to pair fonts, let alone the variety of free fonts available online, often leaves me feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.
You've got many fonts out there that are beautiful and appealing on their own, but when combined they will clash with each other for attention and undermine the design as a whole.
Here's a ground rule that will keep you in good shape:
Use contrast. High contrast is your top ally.
High contrast often draws the reader's attention to the design before all else. Pair the fonts that not only feel different but look very different. Opposites attract. And more likely to complement each other.
Pair shouting grunge typefaces with the reserved classic serif fonts. Legible and modern sans-serifs with consistent and fixed stroke weight and direction will nicely complement the elegant and flowing script typefaces.
Of course, if in doubt, there’s always the Cadbury Easter chocolate to make the paradox of choice a little sweeter.
At the end of the day, there's no hard and fast rule when it comes to choosing fonts that work together most effectively in every single design project.
Experiment, trust in the process, and keep it simple. If nothing else, these font pairs will help you to be creative and get your ideas flowing.
FONT LICENSING
While these fonts can be used for various commercial projects from product design to branding, there are still some restrictions under the commercial license you have to get familiar with – re-selling or giving away the font file for one.
If using the font on the web, make sure you are aware of the pageviews limitation per month on a website you are adding the font to. It’s very important you take a careful look at the license file on the download page or in the zip font folder before installing and using the font.
However, in most cases, if you are an Etsy seller or Cricut enthusiast, you should be in good shape to use any of these fonts for your creative projects to sell.
